Big Man Antonio and Travis came to stay with us for two weeks. They were our first overnight guests since moving to Jacksonville and we were delighted to have them stay....the first week. Ok, don't get me wrong I had a good time and it was nice to have company and actually have people over the age of four to talk to, but TWO 18 year old BOYS for TWO weeks while living in an upscale two bedroom loft becomes a bit much after a while. The cost becomes a bit much, the lack of privacy becomes a bit much, and after they left the cost of our electricity bill from our TV and lights being on all night as well as someone on the internet to 4 am became a bit much. We have a very open floorplan, so open that I can lay in bed and throw a pillow OVER a wall and hit someone on the couch, so when the lights were on and the TV was going, it was as if we were right in the living room with them. One night, the "internet until 4am" culprit fell asleep sitting up on the couch, it was about 2 am and I snuck and turned off ALL of the lights, shut my computer down, and turned the TV off. I smiled as I laid in the dark and was able to fall asleep in complete silence. I went from an easy, breezy stay at home mom to a tour guide, cafeteria chef, psychiatrist, motivational speaker, and referee. Do you know how much a teenage boy eats??! I showed them around via trolley, skyway, river boat, taxi, bus, and car. I figured it would inspire them off my couch and away from my internet to get out and explore this vast region called Jacksonville. Didn't quite happen that way, but it was worth a try. I did get to learn a lot about them and I'm sure they went home with a new impression of us. They did have a great time and actually were bummed out to go home as were we to see them go....well, maybe not so much as bummed out as they were, but they are always welcomed to come back, for a few days, ok, ok , as long as they want- preferably with a hotel reservation though. Its all love:)
