Day One went rather smoothly and later that night I began to plot what I would eat on Day 2. Lil Marcus and I ventured out to the Jazz festival around 7pm. Big Marcus was sleepy and didn't want to go. My plan was to go back and try to get the red beans & rice with chicken wings, only to be told instead of three hours, that it would take two hours until it would be ready. So I went to the first place I initially checked out and decided to order the seafood gumbo-I'm so glad that I did. The gumbo was probably better than the gumbo I drove all the way to New Orleans to pick up for my wedding almost three years ago. I waited in line almost half an hour just to get Lil Marcus' request of shrimp and fries, but I was in good company with the
surprisingly good tunes of Ledisi right behind me. I've heard of Ledisi before, but never had any interest to listen to her music, but I was very impressed-she has a really good voice and I found myself almost swaying to her music; either that or I was trying to keep my knees from locking while waiting in line.

Ok, so mom I know you are probably feeling slight pressure in your chest because clearly these pictures show that Lil Marcus and I were in the mean streets of Jacksonville by ourselves at night. Mom, I can assure that while walking home with your four year old grandson and a new, hot, delicious, bowl of gumbo ( I couldn't help it the gumbo was so good, I had dreams about it later that night, and besides I had to pass it on the way home, plus hot gumbo could be handy when fighting off someone....) we were walking among many people that lived in our building and were in no way alone.
