CRAWFISH FESTIVAL

Last Friday after spending all day car shopping, we decided to head down to the Annual Crawfish Festival. In the words of Marcus Jr, "I wove crawfish!" No one in my household likes them but me. We took my brother-in-law's daughter with us so Marcus Jr would have someone to play with. Believe it or not, I've never been to the Crawfish Festival, for some reason I always seem to miss it, but this year I was ready. So ready, that I forgot my camera in the car. First of all it was dark by the time we got there and we had to park soooo far away. Our goal is move downtown in the Historic Seville area, so the whole time we were walking I kept reminding Marcus Sr that if we lived over here we wouldn't have to walk so far or even pay to park-some guy had the nerve to come over to us and ask us to pay $5, but where we were parked there was no sort of sign stating that we need to pay, so he let us go. After we dodged the $5 dollar bullet, we were hit with another-it cost $10 just get in the festival which was seperated by a plastic 4 foot "fence". Oh well, it was too late, we were already there, plus the kids got in free because they were under 12. The selection of venders were pretty small. I was a bit disappointed. We got in line and ordered the kids two corn dog. I jokingly said to my husband, "Watch, those will be about $10," because the food wasn't priced. The vendor handed us the corn dogs and said loudly, "$10 please." My jaw dropped. The corn dogs were $5 a piece! I bought 3lbs (they claimed it was 3lbs) of crawfish for $10, I also bought crawfish sausage on a stick of $5, and Marcus bought a disgusting shrimp poboy sandwhich for $8 and we bought two bottles of $2 sodas and two cups for the kids for $1. We spent $46 !! It would've been $51 if we would've paid to park! We could've went out to a resturant to eat! After we ate our food I sent Marcus sr to the car to get my camera so I could take a few pics....

I was happy I attended the Crawfish Festival because I learned that I really hadn't missed out on anything. I can't say whether on not I plan on going next year. If I'm living downtown, I'm sure I will go. If not, then I will only go on the last day right before its over to ensure I don't get ripped off as bad as I did this year.
