The last couple of days have been cloudy and even rainy, so since the sun was out today, I decided to do a short session with my 3 year old Marcus Jr. For Christmas we bought him the cutest little Radio Flyer tricycle that he prefers to push instead of sit on. I've always wanted to take some photos of him with it. I got him dressed and we went on the side of my house and instantly there was a problem. He did not want to take any photos-at all. I placed him on the bike and he began to cry, kick, and scream. I realized that he thought I was taking his plastic golf club bag away from him which contained his most prized possession-his cars. So I began to utilize it and told him to pour his cars in the back of the bike and he was all for it.
He got back on the bike and handed me his golf bag. Just when I thought things were going smoothly an airplane flew over the house. He absolutely loves airplanes. So he jumped off the bike and began pointing and trying to show me the plane. I was able to sneak a smile out of him while talking to him about the plane.
I quickly reminded him that his cars were in the bike and asked him to sit on it and ride. Surprisingly he did, but only for a few seconds. He started to get frustrated because it was too hard to pedal in the grass. I started singing some of his favorite songs from Yo Gabba Gabba and he began to sing along forgetting his frustrations...for a moment...
The singing didn't last long and eventually he started to cover his face. I kept asking him to look at me and say cheese, but he only replied with a head shake and a "no thank you," from behind his covered face.
So, he may have won the battle today, but little does he know this is far from over. Why, because his dad is off this weekend and dad doesn't play...
